About us
SP Media was born in 1992 to promote the radio show Street Party that aired on Saturday and Sunday nights on WOKH from 1991 through 1997. Street Party Productions, as it was known at the time, also worked to promote local musicians and design print advertising for regional businesses. The name changed in 1997, shortened to SP Media. SP Media's first publication debuted in December 1997. The Bardstonian featured human interest stories and community events. After only one issue, The Bardstonian was discontinued due to technical difficulties.

In May 1999, SP Media tried it again with Bardstown Bulletin, featuring news headlines from around the county. The format of Bardstown Bulletin was based on Dateline Bardstown, a publication of WBRT and GBA Printing. Dateline Bardstown was discontinued in early 1999.

Two years after Bardstown Bulletin hit the scene, SP Media expanded its services with the launch of The Observer. Each month, The Observer features human interest stories and community events. the format of the Observer was taken from The Bardstonian and expanded. The Observer, like Bardstown Bulletin, is free to the public and is distributed throughout Nelson County.

2001 brought about more changes for SP Media with the launch of Washington Watch. Washington Watch is based on the Bardstown Bulletin formula, featuring news headlines and community events of Springfield and Washington County. Both Bardstown Bulletin and Washington Watch also went online in 2001, offering breaking news coverage for their communities.
